Not confining her artistry to instrumental extravaganza, the talented creative incorporates a healthy amount of mangled vocal stylings, supercharging her records with cathartic, evocative energy and exhibiting an impressive futuristic character. ‘EASTER’ is the perfect evidence of that.
The project’s latest effort, the single is an absolute anthem – although not a conventional one. Built over cinematic and distorted tones, the track features a sparse, minimal arrangement that fully sustains Yodashe’s glorious vocals and harmonies, pushing the record into legendary and majestic territories. Among a controlled sea of reverbs, dark, obscure instrumental stabs, and a sea of textural noise, Yodashe finds the enlightened genius she’s been looking for.
A long record, ‘EASTER’ evolves its sonic livery over time, getting more and more extreme. Speaking about the inspiration behind it, Yodashe explains: “It attempts to sonify the turbulence, haziness and disorientation of the early days of the pandemic. It’s a deep dive into the abyss of insecurity, loss and fear of our collective warped, distorted reality”.
