Andy Smythe Shares Honest Piece ‘Don’t Be a Fool’

Continuing on his artistic journey, London songster Andre Smythe seems to have found the fountain of creativity. Showcasing his nuanced songwriting flair over a series of relatable and friendly pop gems – some of which we featured in the past – the talented musician now unveils a further single, ‘Don’t Be a Fool’, taken from the project’s latest album ‘Poetry in Exile’.

Built over alt-folk and vintage rock stylings, the track feels quite classic in its execution, certainly delving into Andy’s wealth of knowledge and experience. A charming, playful harmonica helps the track realise its full potential, perhaps offering a break from the album’s dark and serious lyricism. It is the contrast between the literary concept behind the songs and Smythe’s colourful delivery that makes the record so eclectic and catchy.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Poetry in Exile’, the English songwriter explains: “I write about the post-Covid landscape of human relationships and the difficulties people are experiencing in living, renting and managing their mental health”.
