We’ve been keeping a very close eye on Canadian indie-pop duo Wotts for quite some time now. We fell in love with their psyche-pop hit ‘NO TAKE BACKS‘ and their bright and kaleidoscopic gem ‘blue‘. The duo now returns with ‘garden’, the third and final instalment from their debut EP of the same name. Continuing on their ethereal, light, and dreamy journey, it’s a cinematic and inviting tune that just warms your soul right up! It’s also a track that’s been expertly pieced together and layered, with a sea of different textures and sounds that give Wotts their distinctive and deeply infectious sound.
“The song’s a metaphor about escaping into your own world,” says the duo. “For us, that world is a place to create, heal, and grow”. Citing the likes of The Beatles, Men I Trust, and Brazilian lyricist and novelist Paulo Coelho as being inspirations behind the EP, it’s this wonderful and eclectic mix of influences that makes Wotts who they are. “We never try to question what inspires us,” says guitarist Ricky 100. ‘All we can do is trust that little spark when it fills us”.
We’ve championed them before and I have zero doubt we’ll be championing them again! Wotts keep on producing original and fresh bangers and allow themselves to go wherever the music takes them. Just brilliant!
