Wotts Gear Up for New EP with Synth-Heavy Beauty ‘ALLO!’

In just a few short months, Wotts has gone from being a Canadian indie-pop duo I hadn’t heard of to becoming one of my favourite current acts on the scene! The dynamic pair of Jayem and Ricky 100 are busy gearing up for the release of their sophomore EP ‘PETALS’, and they recently shared the record’s first dreamy and infectious single ‘ALLO!’ Getting out of their musical comfort zones, the tune sees Wotts leaning towards a more synth-heavy and atmospheric soundscape. It’s reminiscent of acts like Pond or Djo (perhaps better known as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things), but vitally, it maintains that warm signature Wotts sound.

Lyrically, Jayem is quick to say that ‘ALLO!’ is a song about love. “There’s something so beautiful that happens when you first fall in love,” he says. “We really wanted to capture those initial moments, where even being in the same room can leave you feeling like a giant football!”

‘PETALS’ will serve as a three-track story about the pains of unrequited love, a sadly universal and heartbreaking theme. That’s the beauty of Wotts for me…their art is relatable and honest, there’s no sugarcoating! ‘ALLO!’ is another absolute winner that the duo can be proud to add to their discography, and we can’t wait to hear the full EP!

If you want to get to know Wotts a little better, check out the recent interview we did with them!
