Ula Gears Up for Upcoming EP with Brooding, Mesmeric Cut ‘Danger’

The keen reader might remember London-based producer and creative Ula. Writing about ‘So Kind’ earlier this year, we celebrated the piece as “a hypnotising slice of jagged art pop and haunting avant-garde tones”, a statement we stand behind. In fact, Ula’s latest effort, ‘Danger’, doubles down on the same theme, embodying an aching, soul-stirring aural panorama that’s incredibly cathartic and intense. That’s what we appreciate about Ula: she’s not content with mainstream glory, instead delving deeper from both a production and songwriting standpoint.

The former is particularly on display in ‘Danger’, as Ula showcases her sound design prowess and technical allure. An accomplished engineer and record producer, the rising artist is not afraid to welcome the unconventional, pairing hypnotic, minimalistic electronica with gritty synth goodness. Vocals follow suit, evoking a decadent, dystopian tone, one that’s truly striking and memorable.

The songwriting is bold and fierce, with Ula not shying away from confronting gloomy and uncomfortable themes. As she eloquently explains: “A playful but cutting mockery of egotistical manipulation, delivered with an unexpected sense of lightness and empowerment.” Overall, there’s a certain cinematic flair in it, with the record feeling both urgent and quaint; a musical chiaroscuro that perfectly encapsulates the artistic ethos behind the project. There’s an EP coming soon – stay tuned!
