The Journey of Mary And The Sharks – A Reflection on Inner Revolution

The story of Mary And The Sharks is one of resilience and self-discovery. A singer, songwriter, and composer, the German talent has been producing and creating her own music since her university days. After a short hiatus, producer Leif Dölle (a past collaborator) saw her perform live in Berlin, sparking a newly-found creative partnership. The rest is history: from 2019’s ‘Heavy Head’ to today’s ‘I Don’t Care (If You Don’t Care)’, it is clear Mary And The Sharks is pursuing her own authentic indie-pop style, channelling electronic influences in the process.

Inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Nick Cave, and PJ Harvey, the Berliner has showcased impressive lyrical commitment, reflecting on her personal experience and the challenges life and growth bring with them. That’s why ‘I Don’t Care’ is such an iconic track. In it, the listener will discover the journey of inner revolution – the strength and fragility of starting over and the need to have someone tell you that it’s okay to let go. This is a reflection of Mary And The Sharks’ journey and the power of self-discovery. It is a reminder that we all have the power to make positive changes in our lives and to find the people who will support us in becoming the best versions of ourselves.

In the last three years, Mary And The Sharks has experienced numerous changes and challenges in the music industry. Off the back of a glorious career as a songwriter for third-party artists, she began to long for more personal material and more intimate artistic expression. Taking a break in Spain in early 2022 provided the perfect opportunity to work on her own music, leading to this latest single. Well, that went well, we hope she’ll consider pursuing her original music further. We’ll be here supporting!
