Scot Free Sessions Returns with Poignant Folk Number ‘Istanbul’

The keen reader will gladly remember Scot Free Sessions, Canadian singer and songwriter with a knack for poignant melodies and acoustic arpeggios. In fact, since his debut, we have covered almost all of his releases. Writing about ‘Geoff’s Ghost’, we proudly declared: “Robinson’s lyrical style keeps you engaged the whole way through as you listen to his musical story unravel with undertones of blues, folk and country. The gravelly lead vocal stands out in the track and gives a much-desired roughness that enhances the performance.”

That wasn’t the last we heard of him, though. Earlier in November, Scot Free Sessions returned with a tame, introspective number, the acoustic-inspired ‘Istanbul’. In it, we get to fully appreciate the Edmonton native refined and nuanced songwriting prowess, able to navigate the human experience and the way we connect to each other as humans. Bobby Cameron’s evocative vocals complete a perfect picture, sharing a gritty yet heartwarming character, able to kidnap the listeners into their own artistic universe.

The record also gears up the project for an upcoming album, ‘Edmonton Skyline’, coming in 2023. Recorded with a full cast of Edmontonian musicians, we’ll be eagerly waiting to hear it.
