Tár Unveil Brand New EP ‘Dancing On The Event Horizon’

Tár are far from your average rock imprint, instead pursuing what they describe as ‘nostalgic-gaze’, a blend of desert rock and grunge steeped into spacious dream tones and lyrical escapism.

2026 is shaping up to be a crucial year for Polish rock outfit Tár. They returned in full force in March, bringing a two-year hiatus to an end. Singles ‘Course For Home’ and ‘Black Lights’ paved the way for their sophomore EP, ‘Dancing On The Event Horizon’, out now. In it, we find exactly what we would expect from such an eclectic and unique project. You see, Tár are far from your average rock imprint, instead pursuing what they self-describe as ‘nostalgic-gaze’, a blend of desert rock and grunge steeped into spacious dream tones and lyrical escapism.

It’s a formula that’s quite interesting, one that manages to retain its raw, hard-hitting edge while opening the door to hypnotic vocals and sweet melodism. ‘Dancing On The Event Horizon’ is the perfect example of that, delivering a constant contrast between heavy guitar riffs and more expansive harmonies. The listening experience is evocative and partly introspective, yet never descends into full-blown melancholy.

Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the EP, Tar explains: “We’re putting the nostalgia back in nostalgic-gaze. This EP is serving you desert rock with a sprinkle of grunge and shoegaze, with a sauce of early-2000s vibes. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt lost in space, or in their own head, and decided to dance on the edge anyway.” We appreciate the Polish group’s willingness to develop a personal, peculiar sonic imprint. We need more bold creatives in the industry!
