SORRYNOTSORRY Uncover Personal, Cathartic Album ‘THE OTHER SIDE’

There’s a lot we appreciate about ‘THE OTHER SIDE’. A personal and nuanced album, the record showcases the committed artistry behind SORRYNOTSORRY, the New York City-based duo of Venezuelan multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Andrés Cottin and Samantha Dagnino. Drawing from personal experience as much as they do from escapism-driven tones and cinematic electronica, the project stems from a rather inspiring and meaningful ethos.

Unfolding a cathartic, hazy listening experience, ‘THE OTHER SIDE’ served as a therapeutic tool for the two creatives, allowing them to refocus their own life journeys towards a shared goal. That alone makes the album truly authentic; it gives it a purpose. Those are all qualities that are not obvious. Cottin and Dagnino are not merely releasing an exercise in boundary-pushing and haunting material; they mean it, they do what they do because that’s deeply important and crucial to them. We can easily observe that from the majestic and magnetic production, part nocturne and part sparkling.

SORRYNOTSORRY’s collective vocals epically crown the record, with the balance between female and male tone working very well in such a context. Delving deeper into the album, the duo explains: “This album is the consolidation of our project. It is the journey of us finding our band, of coming from a place where life seemed uncertain, the future bleak, leaving behind a broken path and committing our entire energy into ourselves.”
