There’s a reason folks call Luke Million ‘The Synth Lord’. You see, the Australian producer has developed a keen taste for anything retro and synth-powered, so much so that it’s become an acclaimed personal brand for the Adelaide-based creative. Embracing an eclectic lineup of musical machines from the 80s, Million seeks to fully capture the euphoric and dance-inducing allure of that era, while infusing it all with a breath of modern coolness. Call it what you like: future retro, disco, synth pop… the result is the same.
Often seen covering popular musical themes in nostalgic fashion, Luke Million has recently done the same with ‘Knight Rider Theme’, a period-piece trope that gets recreated quite faithfully by the Aussie talent. Such work follows in the footsteps of ‘Recreations: Volume 1’, an EP where Million recontructs disco and modern classics with a certain authenticity, yet giving it a highly contemporary flair too.
That’s the same feeling we get from ‘Knight Rider Theme’, once again a striking display of Luke’s production prowess. Making good use of a lineup of synthesisers from the ’80s, Million makes it a point to be as authentic as possible. As he explains: “No synths were spared in this recreation. I wanted to capture that unmistakable 80s magic with the same kind of firepower that defined the soundscapes of the time.”
