Digging through Roxana’s social media presence and discography is quite inspiring. You see, the talented songstress has managed to build an audience for herself in a very organic, natural way, simply sharing her honest, wholesome artistry with the outside world. Both her TikTok and Spotify pages contain some interesting achievements. Okay, numbers aside: Roxana’s music is incredibly relatable and gentle, exploring soothing indie-folk and pop territories with a refreshingly playful character.
‘Drifting Roots’ is the strongest evidence of that. The Austrian songstress’ latest effort, the EP collects four beautiful pieces drenched in mellow acoustic guitar and ukulele goodness. The songs guide Roxana’s dreamy and cathartic vocals through a heartfelt lyrical journey, spanning themes of memory, identity and personal reflection. The aural experience ranges from ethereal acoustic gems, such as ‘It’s You’ and the bittersweet ‘Alive Forever’, to more eclectic electronic-flavoured episodes, the likes of opener ‘Stars Don’t Fall’ and ‘Green Roses’.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, Roxana explains: “‘Drifting Roots’ is my second self-produced EP – a genre-blending collection exploring identity, memory, and emotion.” Everything seems to point towards Roxana’s elegant, lush artistry, as she explores tame and tender tones in an overwhelmingly gloomy and chaotic world. Bonus points for the stunning artwork, hand-drawn by red_astra_ink.
