RISE Deal with Loss on Bittersweet Single ‘Without You’

At the beginning of this year, Liverpool-based four-piece RISE put out a rather exceptional EP titled ‘Memories And Possibilities’. Recorded at Whitewood Studios in their hometown and produced by Rob Whiteley (Kill The Young), the goal was to capture the band’s live show energy – an undeniably achieved feat!

Track five off the EP is a tune called ‘Without You’, and upon first listen, you’d never know that it was a song dedicated to the untimely death of RISE’s original vocalist and bass player Steve Kinley. An upbeat and infectious mix of driving guitars and bright synths, ‘Without You’ carries with it a bittersweet energy that honours Steve’s memory while also celebrating the act’s resilience. Demonstrating RISE’s ability to channel their grief into artistry, the powerful tune serves as a timely reminder of music’s transformative and cathartic nature.

‘Memories and Possibilities’ is dedicated to Steve Kinley, and it’s an EP that deserves your full and undivided attention. It’s a potent offering from a highly gifted outfit, and I just hope that they bless us with more new music very soon.
