A quick look at Paul Fox’s Instagram page tells us “he’s been releasing reggae music for 25 years”. That’s rather impressive! A well-known name in the Roots Reggae space, the talented British creative doesn’t mind taking a slightly different path from time to time. ‘Better Living (Viver Melhor)’ is the perfect evidence of that: teaming up with Brazilian singer Jhayam, Fox facilitates a laidback, dancehall anthem, a positive and vibrant piece striving for a better world.
Featuring Jhayam’s Portuguese lyricism interlaced with English sections, Paul follows a modern Reggae formula, with electronic instrumentation and a dance-powered, slow-paced production. The Brazilian artist brings a strong, eclectic flair to the track, doubling down on the song’s welcoming and heartwarming message, striving for a kinder society and a fairer system. That’s something we can all get behind.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Fox explains: “I met Jhayam on Instagram and got talking about doing a collaboration, as I found his music and vibe aligned with my current vibe. He was happy to collaborate, and we got the song together soon afterwards. I liked the idea of him singing in Portuguese, even though he also sings in English sometimes, because I like variety in music, and the language is also very pleasing to the ears.”
