It’s been merely a month since we wrote about ‘Siren’, one of Cubicore’s recent singles, a hard-hitting trance-flavoured anthem with heaps of evocative energy. Well, the Ukrainian DJ is certainly not resting on his laurels, teaming up with talented vocalist Linnea Schossow on another fiery and atmospheric club banger, ‘Monster’. In it, we recognise Cubicore’s signature techno and trance imprint, although there’s a distinct darkness in it, a heightened sense of gloominess taking the record into leftfield territories.
Of course, once the drop hits, all hell breaks loose, with a brainiac, intense electronic euphoria completely overwhelming the listener. Now, imagine vibing to this on the dancefloor! Schossow’s emotional, potent vocals are the perfect match for Cubicore’s wise production flair. Taking a bold lyrical approach, the song imagines our inner fear and doubts as a ‘monster’, a creature that angers us in the night (and when we feel vulnerable).
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Monster’, the Ukrainian creative explains: “I wanted to create something that still feels like me but with a darker, heavier twist.” Mission complete, Cubicore: we look forward to hearing the track in a club, sooner or later!
