What we appreciate about Consequential is his ability to make music without complex conditions or overblown statements. He doesn’t need fancy gear or a giant studio, instead embracing a down-to-earth, simple approach to his artistry. ‘LivinLife-NeedU’ is the perfect example of that, “a feel-good track with a good message hoping to bring the sun out”, as the British producer explains.
The writing process was rather casual, yet very effective. “All in the box, in the Suffolk countryside, with a rottweiler sat on my lap to help”, declares Consequential. Again: there’s a child-like simplicity in all this, an easy-going attitude that doesn’t hinder the final result. In fact, ‘LivinLife-NeedU’ is pretty intricate and hard-hitting, delivering a striking and brainiac drum and bass anthem infused with bright melodies and airy vocal samples.
There’s a certain pop flair in it, too, a quality that will make the record palatable to a wider audience. Taking a larger look at his musical career, Consequential continues: “This is far from the hardcore punk when I first started to write music, I just make what I feel in the moment”. Often, the bigger hits are the unexpected oneness – funny how that works!
