Following up from last year’s EP ‘Out By Ten’, Midnight Repost has recently announced a brand new EP, ‘The Big Night Out’. ‘Find a New Song’ is the single that anticipates it, a slice of groovy euphoria and eclectic production, in true and authentic Midnight Repost style. In fact, we relate to the song a fair bit: written about the feeling of being overwhelmed with new releases, the London-based outfit seeks to find a better way forward, striving for a true connection between music and listeners.
That’s our daily life, believe it or not, and we are glad Midnight Repost are able to put that thought into a well-crafted, potent single. Fans of the band will have already realized that’s not a brand-new offering, with the track being a constant hit in their live show. ‘Find a New Song’ is now given a proper production, recorded live to tape.
Sonically, ‘Find a New Song’ contains all the highlights of the project: all-out, anthemic choruses, catchy melodies, uplifting, brilliant synths and positive drum grooves. Perhaps it’s just us, but we do hear a certain nostalgic flair in it, a veiled AOR character then countered by 80s energy.
