Master of Spoken Words Yossi Returns with ‘Lost Souls’ EP

We have long championed spoken words as one of our guilty pleasures. There’s something special about narrated storytelling with an inventive composition around it. It can often have a cathartic effect, connecting with the listener on a deeper level. Yossi has long understood that very same concept, and he’s become a true master at it. Hailing from London, the talented performer, actor and holistic creative is now pleased to present his latest EP, a collection of three striking spoken word pieces that are as sharp and meaningful as they are haunting and nostalgic.

Featuring the boundary-pushing production of fellow talent Dylan Van Der Molen, ‘Lost Souls’ is incredibly immersive and majestic, lining up three tracks steeped in Yossi’s personal and ethical experience. ‘The City’ opens the record with a reflection on London’s numerous issues, with noisy electronica perfectly matching Yossi’s truthful and hard-hitting message. Title track ‘Lost Souls’ functions as an ode to a better future, written during the solitude of pandemic lockdowns. There’s both a tender and a dark outlook to it; while the piece is written in a stark situation, Yossi then takes a more positive approach to it, striving for a brighter future.

‘Tryfan’ is perhaps the most philosophical effort in the EP, reflecting on “the psychological, spiritual and metaphysical implications of our domesticated modernity upon the natural human.” Overall, ‘Lost Souls’ EP gears up to be a crucial offering in Yossi’s artistic journey, one that fits our gloomy, challenging times very well. By expressing himself through spoken words, the British artist invites his fellow humans into a sort of ‘collective pain’ – a place that’s certainly less lonely than usual.
