2026 is about to become a triumphant year for Atlanta-based alt-rock outfit Lotus Grove. They are embarking on a long 12-track release schedule, which we suspect will then solidify into an album. For now, though, we only have ‘All The Light’, unveiled back in March, and April’s ‘Ordinary People’. To note, the songs mark Lotus Grove’s comeback after a two-year hiatus. ‘Ordinary People’ is the record that catches our attention, a promising sign of things to come.
Embracing a playful and electrifying rock character, the track manages to retain its dynamism and relatability, with the guitar never feeling too heavy or overpowering. Ryan’s lead vocals are rather charming and slightly fuzzy, and are not hidden between other instruments. This is a very important quality, one that gives Lotus Grove the potential to reach a wider audience.
What should be noted is the eclectic nature that propels Lotus Grove’s ever-expanding artistry. Despite the American musicians drawing influences from diverse genre backgrounds, they all eventually land on a cohesive and striking sonic formula, one that feels urgent and intense, but also melodic and reflective. As we are told: “We all listen to a bunch of different types of music (for instance, our drummer is a touring metal drummer). We all chipped in with Ryan doing the majority of the lyric lifting.”
