Leonie Sherif Shifts ‘TWILIGHT’ in Amapiano Territories with Sp Deville

The keen reader might remember Leonie Sherif from a feature we published earlier this year, celebrating ‘TWILIGHT’ as “a hypnotic and seductive little track”. We stand by our words; moving with purpose and cathartic flair, the record wraps listeners into a sultry, carefree and uplifting stream of slow-moving grooves, quite eclectic and Afrobeat-flavoured. What’s not to like? It’s the perfect balance of soulful, R&B, Afrobeat and tropical tones. Sherif’s vocals are the cherry on the cake, thanks to their evocative and elegant character.

Well, it turns out that Leonie wasn’t yet done with ‘TWILIGHT’. Teaming up with producer Sp Deville, she’s now looking to give the song a new lease of life, thanks to an atmospheric, liminal remix that’s a joy to listen to. That’s exactly what happens, with ‘TWILIGHT’ being shifted into fashionable and nocturne Amapiano territories. It still carries the original version’s playful attitude, yet with a more dance-focused commitment.

Sp Deville does a great job on the production, respecting Sherif’s masterful vocals and gently taking the record to the next level. Overall, we’re glad to see Leonie back with another slice of pure, unfiltered musical magic. A creative and an entrepreneur, the London-based talent wears many hats. In fact, as a chronic illness advocate living with endometriosis and adenomyosis, Sherif has shared her story on national platforms including ITV and Channel 5.
