This is quickly becoming a family affair… following up on our recent feature on Cali Tucker’s pop exuberance, we are happy to report that it’s now time to cover LaCosta Tucker, Cali’s mother. That’s a name that should tell you something! A legend in the Nashville country scene, LaCosta was signed by Capitol Records back in the seventies, scoring fourteen chart hits and touring with some of the all-time greats, including Bob Hope and Johnny Cash, among others.
She’s now back in the limelight with a wholesome, empowering gem steeped in womanhood and fierce lyricism. ‘Woman Behind The Wheel’ is exactly that, as it playfully uses the metaphor of a driving (in charge) woman as a force for good. Such meaningful songwriting is then framed in nostalgic country goodness, keeping it rather simple yet effective. Melodies are incredibly catchy and uplifting, perhaps even anthemic.
Delving deeper into the song, Tucker explains: “Women always step up to the plate; their strength and determination are what hold families together.”” Based between Nashville and Las Vegas, LaCosta doesn’t appear to have lost her striking artistic flair and playful musical charisma, all qualities that will bring her again in front of a global audience. ‘Woman Behind The Wheel’ is the strongest evidence of that.
