Aarktica Shares Cinematic and Cathartic Album ‘Ecstatic Lightsongs’

We are aware this might sound cliché, but ‘Ecstatic Lightsongs’ is actually more of a listening experience than a conventional record. Moving at a slow pace, it gradually builds an aural space that’s intimate and cathartic, allowing each recipient to connect to the music as they see fit. Despite its ownership resting comfy in Aarktica’s creative hands, the album is bound to connect with various people in many different ways, unfurling a sonic journey that’s never obvious or understated, instead truly magnetic and meaningful.

Known by day as Jon DeRosa, the Los Angeles-based producer and songwriter moves with purpose and precise goals, willingly delving into luscious, ambient-driven electronica and leftfield goodness. The occasional guitar aids a certain minimalism, as do DeRosa’s deep, resonant vocals. The contrast between the busy drum grooves and the spacious, expansive soundscapes makes for a dreamy experience. Pure, unfiltered escapism.

Marking Aarktica’s 10th album to date, ‘Ecstatic Lightsongs’ is a gift, as far as we are concerned. Delving deeper into the album, DeRosa explains: “Many of these songs focus on the smallest elements of memory. How we remember the moonlight looking on someone’s face. A passing conversation about cloud formations over coffee. I’m fascinated by how some seemingly trivial experiences stay with us forever and become significant pieces in our story.”
