Things are evolving quickly in NORA’s Dollhouse universe. We left her back in November crying on the dance floor, and we meet her again today as she gazes into the playful and delusional side of infatuation. Aptly titled, ‘crush’ evokes the bubbly and exuberant beginning of a romantic fling, the honeymoon phase, so to speak. Just before it gets complicated… we suspect a lot of humans out there will relate to it.
Doubling down on her electrifying and bold public persona, NORA truly flourishes in such vivid and fun settings. Threading the fine line between appreciation and obsession, she pulls listeners into a gripping love storyline, one where the end is already written in stone. Songwriting prowess aside, ‘crush’ also benefits from a lively and mischievous production, here courtesy of Tim Gosden. NORA’s malleable and tongue-in-cheek vocal delivery is the perfect match for the song; the main hook is incredibly intoxicating and a joy to listen to.
Just like that, on a cold and grey January 16th, NORA drops an absolute heater, further uncovering the Dollhouse universe, a fictional world where the project’s imagery and lyrical allure come alive. It’s unapologetic, yet elegant. The Norwegian talent is stepping up once again. She’s just getting started.
