Discover Your Favourite Rock’n’Roll Soundtrack with ‘The Miner’s Son’

‘The Miner’s Son’ is not your average rock’n’roll record. Of course, it’s packed with tons of nostalgic guitar-driven charisma and a hard-hitting sound reminiscent of Iron Maiden and Motorhead, among others. Yet, the album is just a piece of a larger puzzle. You see, ‘The Miner’s Son’ is first and foremost a soundtrack, a comprehensive body of work commissioned by British film production company ETTECON

Working on their original motion picture ‘THE MINER’S SON (A rock’n’roll dream)’, ETTECON teamed up with talented songwriter Juliette Short, who then rallied a group of musicians around her, penning the striking and furious album we can hear today. The group eventually ended up being called Kevin and the Ettecon band, a name that well adapts to the situation. In ‘The Miner’s Son’, listeners can expect the most fuzzy and furious hard rock and heavy metal out there, taking cues from the late 80s and early 90s with a confidently period-corrected flair.

Yet, as this is a movie soundtrack, it’s not all doom and gloom, with pieces such as ‘Dumb Little Country Boy’ embracing a stripped-back Americana ethos, or ‘Working Man’, constantly distorted and filtered through a fictional radio speaker. Later, ‘The Walkabout’ showcases the record’s most vulnerable and evocative side, with a slow-paced ballad that would make Metallica proud.
