Copper Curios Unveil Experimental, Hypnotic Record ‘Time’

‘Time’ aids a glorious sense of catharsis, a highly evocative and hypnotic state of mind that will likely push listeners into deep introspection. Meet Copper Curios.

Before we dive into what ‘Time’ actually stand for, at least regarding the intention of its makers, we’d love to share our own listening experience. The record aided a glorious sense of catharsis, a highly evocative and hypnotic state of mind that truly pushed us into introspection and reflection. This is what happened: we started listening to the album, and not before long, our minds started to wander in unexpected places, uncovering thoughts and realisations that seemed buried, but that suddenly were free to emerge. Next to that, ‘Time’ also drives a certain calming, relaxing ethos.

Partly, the experience we just described fits with the conceptual baggage behind Copper Curios. Written as an “exploration on how we perceive the concept of time and how we evolve within it”, ‘Time’ does carry a heightened nostalgic and otherworldly force, bending the material world into an idyllic mirage. Demetris Yiasemides and Eva Stavrou are the creative entities behind such a potent body of work. Honestly, we are super impressed with them, and with their willingness to embrace music that thrives on the fringe.

Armed with their classical background and shifting into experimental electronica, Copper Curios weave a fictional trait between tradition and modernity, eventually landing on a supreme formula, one that’s boundary-pushing and sombre. Delving deeper into the record, the Cyprus-based duo explains: “The album reflects on the idea that the present is inseparably connected to both the past and the future, inviting listeners to contemplate their own relationship with the elusive nature of time.”
