‘What Happened to the Boy Next Door?’ is the brand new EP courtesy of Pittsburg-based punk rockers Chip & the Charge Ups, and it’s a high-energy and forceful journey from a seriously skilful band. Showcasing a noticeably harder-edged sound from the act, the EP features six original tunes that demonstrate the band’s ability to seamlessly blend rock with punk and heavy metal. “We want to create a welcoming vibe for all rock-n-roll misfits with our music and at our shows,” proudly proclaims Chip Dominick, lead vocalist and guitarist.
Starting off with ‘Paying Back The Devil’, a gritty and powerful hard rock anthem, Chip & the Charge Ups invite you into their new soundscape. Raw, edgy, dynamic, and full of life! ‘Maleena Made Us Change the Name of This Song to Fit in with the Pop-Punk Community’, the EP’s second song and contender for longest title of the year, is another hard-hitting and fiery track that leaves you wanting more.
With four more smashing tunes to dive into, I can’t recommend ‘What Happened to the Boy Next Door?’ highly enough! From the adrenaline-fuelled riffs to the catchy choruses and no-holds-barred approach, it’s an EP that shows a band growing and evolving. It’s an exciting thing to witness, and I have no doubt we’ll be hearing from them again very soon!
