Carley Varley Reaches Breakup Closure in ‘I’m not angry anymore’

There’s a plethora of artists out there that we proudly champion whenever we can. Carley Varley is one of them: the British talent has been delivering consistently good songs, exploring pop-punk territories fully encased in modernity. Writing about her previous single ‘Somehow I’m Alive’, we explained how it felt as “a confirmation of her artistic journey”, a journey that’s not done yet. ‘I’m not angry anymore’ is the latest offering from Varley, an emotional ballad showcasing the versatility and dynamism of her powerful vocals.

Taken from Carley’s upcoming EP ‘Homesick’, the record signals the point of acceptance after a breakup. After tears were shed and doubts were had, Varley finally come to terms with the loss of love, finding closure and letting go of all residual anger. Almost a resolution song, ‘I’m not angry anymore’ does a great job of translating the lyrical theme into musical terms. Introduced by acoustic and electric guitars, plus a piano, the track slowly builds up tension, as if a pivotal realisation was incoming. Indeed, it all climax into a poignant full-band outro, the perfect outro for a painful breakup finally coming to a close.

This a powerful and introspective offering from Carley Varley, as usual. Recommended!
