British Indie Trio Wild Horse Gears Up for First Release of the Year, ‘Cougar’

We never shy away from uncovering the best rock bands in Britain. In that regard, we are happy to follow up on Wild Horse, Sussex-based indie trio with a knack for groovy guitars and bright, pop melodies. The keen reader might remember our latest feature for them; describing their track ‘Bitter’, we proudly declared: “it features one of the catchiest choruses that you are ever likely to hear! It really is the perfect song in many ways, and there’s a little something for everyone to love about it.”

Now, the British talents look to 2023 with eagerness, willing to spread their catchy and uplifting music far and wide. Gearing up for their first release of the year, ‘Cougar’, Wild Horse showcases once again their constant progression, both in terms of musical prowess and production, and in terms of songwriting. Embracing the signature funk/disco attitude we have come to expect from the group, ‘Cougar’ keeps it dynamic and dancy, providing the perfect sonic framework for a lead vocal that has never sounded better. Slightly gritty, distorted, yet expressive and relatable: Wild Horse really deliver on this one.

Lyrically, the record explores fictional, elaborate storytelling as a metaphor for the complexity of human relationships. As the band describes: “A tale of a lonely housewife who starts using psychedelics and visiting younger men to escape the pain of real life and her failing marriage.” To note, the addition of fellow talent Jalissa Livermore on backing vocals, bringing freshness and a glorious outlook to an already delicious track.

Recommended! Mark your calendars, ‘Cougar’ releases on January 27th on your favouring streaming outlet.
