Blu Joy Unveil Raw and Eclectic Album ‘blu joy’

There’s not much we could tell you about Blu Joy, without first suggesting you listen to them. You see, the Arizona indie outfit is one of those groups that possess a raw unfiltered character, the type of energy you can’t really narrate, it just must be experienced. So we’ll do precisely that – pressing play on their latest effort, the homonym album ‘blu joy’, we’ll take you with us on a spectacular, fuzzy journey through the band’s infectious signature sound.

Introduced by ‘Up And Down’, we instantly catch a glimpse of what the project stands for: an unparalleled lo-fi-flavoured identity, pursuing ensemble intensity over singular virtuoso action. Balanced between the understated charm of indie and the rebellious punch of punk, the track is the perfect introduction to ‘blu joy’. ‘Already Gone’ widens the sonic horizons, putting vocals more at the center of attention. It’s here that we can fully appreciate the sleazy, casual singing tone the group has to offer, not shying away from harmonies and choral moments.

From here on, it’s open season: from vintage, acoustic and lyrical-charged pieces such as ‘Divine’, to more soul-infused tracks, such as ‘All I Can Give’, Blu Joy showcase unexpected eclecticism, letting us know that raucous rock is not only what they are capable of.

A wonderful record by one of Arizona’s brightest promises. Stay tuned!
