A rather quirky and unique project, BigDenBoo is the artistic moniker of a French composer and music enthusiast, reconnecting with the passion for music that was so common in his youth. Having found a brand new creative flair, the talented musician has recently returned with an original album, an impressive collection of cinematic, evocative and haunting pieces that find their identity amidst videogame soundtracks, progressive rock and eclectic pop culture.
It’s a wide blend of influences and inspirations, a striking concoction of sound that’s fully on display in ‘The Journey’, BigDenBoo’s latest album. Marked as the first installment of his ‘musical adventures’, the record features a whopping 22 tracks, all drenched in synth-laden vintage atmospheres and orchestral elegance. The result is nuanced soundscapes full of tension and gloomy energy, yet also pretty anthemic and magnificent.
Speaking about the circumstances behind the record, BigDenBoo explains: “This is a project that I started working on at the beginning of the summer of 2022. Completely experimental at the start, it was aimed at discovering new musical horizons, in a style that I had never practiced before. As time went on, this small experiment of 3 or 4 disparate pieces evolved into a more ambitious project built around a story, with characters and a universe created from scratch.”
