Alta Falls Release Nostalgia-Laced Beauty ‘Tried to Forget About’

I’m telling you…there must be something in the water at the moment in Australia. I’m just absolutely loving everything that comes from there at the moment. Case in point – the nostalgia-laced new single from Brisbane-based electro-pop duo Alta Falls. Filled with vintage synths, the danciest of beats, a Tame Impala-esque bassline, and the airy vocals of lead singer Nathanael, it’s a dreamy and richly layered little tune. Believe it or not, “the song was originally written in a folky style,” says Nathanael. “How on earth can we turn this folk song into an 80s banger?” asked the other half of Alta Falls, Matt.

The duo worked alongside producer and engineer Aidan Hogg (Jaguar Jonze, G Flip) to turn their track into what you hear today, and credit Hogg for working his magic. Tia Gostelow’s drummer Sebastian Jennings Hingston also joined the party on ‘Tried to Forget About’.

Telling the story of Nathanael’s childhood friend, and how the two would ride around the suburbs of Brisbane on their pushbikes writing songs, ‘Tried to Forget About’ is beautifully nostalgic and transportive. It’s pure class, honestly. I simply cannot get enough! With plans to release their second EP sometime this year, remember the name, Alta Falls.
