Heather Taylor Maintains Her Funky Sound on ‘Just An Animal’

Earlier this year, I stumbled upon Heather Taylor’s funky and upbeat single ‘I’m Good’. I was instantly intrigued by the indie rockers’ sound and style, and the tune has since become Heather’s most-played song on Spotify. Now, the North Carolina-based musician returns with ‘Just An Animal’, another bright, full-bodied, soulful, and seriously danceable little track. Resonating with the same energy as ‘I’m Good’, it’s a tune that’s filled with retro swagger, killer brass hooks, and the now unmistakeably distinctive and sassy vocals of Taylor.

“This is my pep talk,” says the artist. “It’s a reminder to come out of my shell and loosen up when I’m feeling stressed and boxed in”. Encouraging the listener to step out of their comfort zone, and simply be themselves, ‘Just An Animal’ serves as a powerful anthem that celebrates the raw and untamed spirit within us all.

Once again, Heather worked alongside platinum-selling music producer Bradley Denniston (The Lonely Island, Gotye, Tegan and Sara, and G-Eazy). “I couldn’t have asked for a better producer,” she says. I fully agree! It’s a track that’s crisp, innovative, energetic, and deeply intoxicating. I have absolutely no doubt that Taylor is destined for big things and, just like before, cannot wait to hear what she offers up next!
