crucifera Debuts with Gloomy Industrial Album ‘Exostential’

‘Exostential’ is a dark, prophetic album, a slice of ominous, eerie aural matter drenched in heavy distortions and kinetic destruction. Meet crucifera.

We approach crucifera with a certain mystery and respect, something that’s partly aided by the project’s mysterious and gloomy outward livery. Steeped in industrial alt-rock and gothic darkwave, the New Jersey-based outfit has recently unveiled a powerful debut album, ‘Exostential’, a collection of kinetic, eerie and ghostly textures with a distorted, electronic contour. In truth, crucifera’s music is described to us as “crunchy ethereal industrial music for spiders”, a statement that, although abstract, makes a lot of sense in relation to its overarching aural matter.

‘Exostential’ is the sort of record that won’t appeal to everyone out there; it takes a keen, dedicated audience. Possibly, the goth and the black metal communities will relate to it. Anyone wearing black, perhaps? 🙂 Jokes aside, we appreciate when artists cater to a particular niche, and we appreciate even more when they boldly follow their artistic inspiration with no compromises. That’s exactly what Danielle Astraea did. The American multi-disciplinary creative is the driving force and solo producer behind the project.

As such, ‘Exostential’ is the direct result of Astraea’s pure, unfiltered vision, a statement of intent for the future of crucifera. Mastered by industry icon Sebastian Komor (Icon of Coil), the album reaches its zenith thanks to a relentless barrage of ominous and menacing sound design, all steeped in rovinous distortions and punchy, explosive drums.
