MAAME Refuses Monotony with Vibrant Piece ‘Daydreaming’

The keen reader might remember Leeds-based songstress MAAME by a feature we published earlier in the summer, praising ‘Beautiful’ as “a slice of uplifting and meaningful goodness, making us feel as if we were floating over blue clouds”. We stand by our words: the talented creative has the ability to craft cathartic and uplifting material, drawing from the R&B tradition with soulful flair. Today, MAAME returns with her latest effort, ‘Daydreaming’.

In it, we find the same vocal prowess we were familiar with, boasting MAAME’s malleable melodies and acute, precise tone. Swapping elegant R&B with groovier hip-hop influences, the British sensation embraces punchier drums and icy minimalism, making for a listening experience that’s vibrant and otherworldly, aiding a certain sense of escapism. It all makes sense, seen as the song is called ‘Daydreaming’.

MAAME is, in fact, daydreaming, seeking to “escape the monotony of everyday life and reach for something more”. It’s a feeling that many out there will be familiar with. Moreover, the rhythmic, hypnotic nature behind ‘Daydreaming’ deeply connects with such a potent lyrical ethos, almost feeling like a giant, large fever-dream, one where we are constantly lulled by MAAME’s magnetic, introspective vocals.
