Tiny Moth Debut with Hard-Hitting, Vibrant EP

We approach Tiny Moth with a certain curiosity. Born from the artistic union between musician and producer Doug Rimington and vocalist Jess Lambert, the project feels incredibly bold and hard-hitting, exploring alt-rock territories with heightened gloominess and fury. Yet, something feels familiar… a quick search reminds us of Rimington’s past endeavours as Fury of a Dying Planet, a project that precedes Tiny Moth and that likely provided the breeding ground for the current outfit’s substantial and prog-lenient sound.

‘Tiny Moth’ is the group’s homonymous EP, a 5-track collection which speaks highly of everyone involved. Blending harsh guitar tones and electronic elements, Doug does a great job in making the record as eclectic as possible, yet still fully planted in the heavy rock landscape. The overall vibe jumps from uncontrolled euphoria to melancholic decadence, a rollercoaster of emotion that well suits Lambert’s commanding tone and unapologetic delivery.

Recorded almost a year ago in Whitehouse Studio in Reading, ‘Tiny Moth’ EP is a convincing release. Delving deeper into the inspiration behind it, Rimington explains: “As much as I’m inspired by guitar tones and punchy drum patterns, nothing can compare to meeting a talented singer. The way Jess can move from sweet melodies to harsh screams is just awesome. I can’t wait for people to hear what we’ve created, and I very much look forward to writing with Jess again in the near future…”.
