A stark, hard-hitting dive into gloomy, haunting atmospheres, ‘One Anothers’ is We Feed Alone’s latest effort, a close look at solitude and the need for connection. Using imagery relating to a bad psychotropic trip, the Illinois-based group seeks to evoke a decadent, scary sensation, a nugget of darkness and doubts packed with jagged distortions and eclectic math-rock flavourings.
Alongside four euphorically confusing minutes, ‘One Anothers’ introduces an almost monotone vibe at first, only to then explode into a disruptive, melancholic dark chorus, the perfect match for such obscure songwriting. Founded by drummer Eric Straton, We Feed Alone now features permanent members Doug Wagner and Scout Hughes. Despite being a trio, the group are able to provide intense sonic punch, a wall of sound that will satisfy any extreme rock lovers.
‘One Anothers’ is shipped with a trippy music video, recorded and edited by the three musicians themselves. As they explain: “It captures the surreal unease of being on a bad trip, like wandering along the dusty trails of the Wild West with no clear destination in sight. The visuals lean into this theme with some distinct Western elements, perfectly encapsulating the discomfort and hopelessness felt when traversing unfamiliar roads all alone.”
