Emerging from Cyprus, Watch Me Die Inside marks our latest discovery, a gripping metal outfit that feels rather contemporary and observant, but above all reflective and steeped in lyrical virtue. Boasting musician and multi-instrumentalist Aleph at its helm, Watch Me Die Inside has recently shared a puzzling single, ‘Elevate’, the first episode to be extracted from the project’s upcoming EP ‘The Lumonous Abyss’, expected on 1st January 2027.
As we approach ‘Elevate’, the song’s emotional charge is incredibly apparent, with a poignant, heartwarming arpeggiated piano holding space for Aleph’s malleable, expressive vocals. Soon enough, the track explodes into full-band rage, a piece that blooms at the intersections of rebellion and melancholy. Besides its aural charge, ‘Elevate’ particularly flourishes in the project’s overall ethos, with Watch Me Die Inside viewing its songs as ‘fragments’, listeners as ‘witnesses’, and records as ‘autopsy’, all deeply tied to the heightened emotional sheen in the source material.
Delving deeper into the peculiar philosophy that propels the single, we are told: “‘Elevate’ begins at the boundary between the finite and the vast. The ordinary is not condemned for being modest; it becomes a cage when habit replaces intention. The lyric’s corridors, dust and blindfolds, turn intellectual dormancy into something tangible, then answer it with a repeated imperative: elevate your mind.” This is not your ordinary metal project: this is a system of values, a whole perspective on modern society.
