USHAN Unveils Boundary-Pushing, Sultry Piece ‘Connected’

An eclectic, imaginative and sultry effort, ‘Connected’ marks USHAN’s first release of the year, and it’s a rather special piece. Steeped in sensual energy and haunting attraction, the single finds its unique character among 808-style drum machines, glitchy, saturated synth tones, and tribal percussions, making for a listening experience that’s playful yet hard-hitting, and certainly quirky. Sharp guitars help leave a rock-oriented mark on an already prominent piece.

Known by day as Lorena Hollander, USHAN champions unique and authentic artistry with boldness and pride, packing her records with tons of imagery and meaningful lyricism. ‘Connected’ is the strongest evidence of that. Signalling the “electrifying magnetism between two souls”, the song tries to embody the power of attraction in sonic form, capturing the intensity and glimmering emotions often felt by two lovers.

Overall, the listening experience is unique and enriching, and the Brazilian creative sounds unlike anything we have heard before – not an easy accomplishment these days. A holistic artist, versed in both aural and visual fields, USHAN showcases once again her musical worth, a precious and boundary-pushing character that’s both cathartic and hypnotising.

A special mention to the single’s artwork, photographed by Ana Vohs and “featuring shibari by artist Sansa Rope, evokes the power of the Japanese legend of the red thread of fate, or akai ito”.
