TV Blackout Drop Eclectic Album ‘Loss of Control’

Their recently released album ‘Loss of Control’ is almost surprising, and in a way depicts the talented group as a musical entity that escapes any strict definition.

Hailing from Michigan, TV Blackout is a band worthy of your attention, and ours too. Their recently released album (their first full-length release so far) is almost surprising, and in a way depicts the talented group as a musical entity that escapes any strict definition. The project features singer and guitarist Brian Ross, drummer Ayman Karmi, bassist Phil Rinke, and guitarist Gwen Katherine.

Packed with twelve electrifying offerings, ‘Loss of Control’ particularly excels in its kaleidoscopic character, with the American band not settling on a specific style or formula. While everything does revolve around a classic rock quartet, guitar, bass and drums are here used in neighbouring settings, for example in the Funk-inspired ‘Too Far Gone’, or the quirky and melodic cut ‘Redacted’. ‘Slow Burn’ is a perfect example of the dynamic range TV Blackout has to offer, jumping from soft acoustic tones to heavy alternative riffing at a moment’s notice.

Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the album, TV Blackout explain: “‘Loss of Control’ is meant to be listened to all the way through…you just might find your favourite song. For this album we looked at my whole back catalogue of music and chose the tunes that best highlighted the strengths of the band.” That’s the key right there; ‘Loss of Control’ is being delivered as a cohesive, complete package, and listening to only one or a few tracks might give the listener a wrong impression of the project. TV Blackout wants you to truly understand their genre-less style, as well as their bold musical freedom.
