It’s been a while since we wrote about Streamer. Precisely, since November 24, when we shared ‘Festival’. The British outfit has certainly not been silent in the meantime, unveiling a series of singles that will soon solidify into an EP, ‘Is This Love’. For now though, Streamer treat us to one last track, ‘Unleashed’, a potent follow-up to their recent show at Clapham Grand, in London.
From a sonic standpoint, ‘Unleashed’ illustrates the group’s signature eclectic sound, the perfect meeting point between mainstream EDM and anthemic indie tones. Partly trance and reflective, the new single finds its main character in the many build-ups and drops, a chain of tension and release that delivers an impactful listening experience. It’s a piece that will work especially well during a live show, perhaps in the early hours and in a dark room.
Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the record, Streamer explain: “Cheeky, charged and full of motion, ‘Unleashed’ plays with heat and surrender without overplaying its hand; whilst the lyrics may suggest, the music detonates.” The statement is also very useful when considering Streamer’s wider artistic trajectory. Their music has always been rather hard-hitting, kinetic and electrifying, yet also evocative and epic. It’s a formula that’s only getting better and better with each release.
