Tim Ellis Shares Latest EP ‘Remember Spring?’

NYC-based musician and comedian Tim Ellis returns with another seasonally themed EP, ‘Remember Spring?’. It’s uplifting and playful, yet soft and expressive.

We approach Tim Ellis’ artistic universe with admiration and respect, not because we fixate on taking the project too seriously, but because we recognise the keen talent and eclectic artistry that goes into making Ellis’ releases so vibrant and playful. In fact, Tim is most known for being a singer-songwriter and comedian, weaving the two roles into a cohesive, unique package. As it is described to us: “Think Jonathan Richman’s deadpan charm, Elvis Costello’s pop intelligence, and the absurdist playfulness of Flight of the Conchords, all converging around a songwriter who takes seasonal feelings as seriously as he takes the joke.”

Quite the pedigree! ‘Remember Spring?’ is the perfect evidence of that. Marking Ellis’ latest effort, the track is taken from a wider conceptual series of EPs named ‘Songs of the Seasons’, a collection of four EPs, each dedicated to a particular season. In that sense, ‘Remember Spring?’ is both a track of its own and an EP containing six like-minded songs. The overarching stylistical character feels on par with its theming, delving into simple yet effective indie-pop allure and catchy, relatable melodism.

Hailing from Brooklyn, Tim Ellis has been expressing himself through art and comedy for a long time, so much so that his discography has now become quite large. We appreciate his ever-fertile songwriting flair; it’s not always easy to describe the reality around us using comedy (or at least a light-hearted approach). Yet, in a world that’s increasingly divisive and toxic, that’s exactly what we need.
