Built on nostalgic R&B stylings, ‘Please You’ still manages to retain a strong contemporary flair, mainly thanks to Tianna’s charming and evocative lyrical delivery. Against classic neo-soul and hip-hop beats, the South-London-based talent delves into the complexities of relationships and the intoxicating feeling of being in love – or simply infatuated.
Such a relatable theme is analyzed with a strong playful flair, making for a record that’s light and uplifting, yet meaningful and universal. Clocking in at just under three minutes, ‘Please You’ might be short, but its intensity and soulfulness don’t lie. Packing luscious and soulful vocals for days, Tianna completely hypnotises the listeners, at least during the song’s two minutes of pure blissfulness.
Speaking about the inspiration behind it, the talented songstress explains: “It came from a situation that didn’t quite work out romantically as I felt like the other person would project a lot of their feelings and insecurities about the relationship onto me so I wrote this song kind of as reassurance to the both of us.”
