A heartwarming and mellow piece, ‘More Lucky’ feels quite comfy and friendly. It’s the kind of record that’s a joy to listen to; imagine a charming acoustic guitar and The Storm Windows’ earthy, smokey lead vocals, and you’ve got the track’s foundational blocks. Slowly, the group enriches the song with gentle drums and light textures, making for a nostalgic, unforgettable listening experience.
‘More Lucky’ features a rather quirky element, a horn arrangement crafted by Dima Faustov; this packs the record with a playful selection of timbres, widening The Storm Windows inspired eclecticism. Between the catchy and evocative melodies, the band manages to also record a wealth of background vocals, here delivered by SamSam. ‘More Lucky’ is taken from the homonymous six-track EP, out now.
Once again, this is a record that benefits from the gloomy state of affairs our our world, with The Storm Windows explaining: “It takes an optimistic view of the current state of things, noting that in the face of it all, ‘you gotta roll’.” Storm Windows are brothers Rob Mathews (guitar and vocals) and Don Mathews (upright bass and vocals), plus drummer Erik Anderson.
