The last time we featured The Rolling People was in December 2024, just before their Manchester homecoming show at the 02 Ritz. Fast forward to summer 2025, and the British rockers appear unstoppable, with new music and a winter tour that’s already sold out. It’s not easy to predict when an act will actually blow up, but in this case, we are rather confident that The Rolling People will soon enjoy a great deal of national recognition. For now, though, the group are laser-focused on their slick and roaring brand of indie rock and britpop-infused euphoria.
‘Edge of the Knife’ is the perfect evidence of that. The Rolling People’s latest effort, the single follows up on their previous EP ‘Before It’s Gone’, once again balancing fuzzy and melodic guitars against a backdrop of evocative, relatable vocals. There’s a great deal of Oasis-esque flair in it, which we guess is perhaps due to their regional references, but also about a Britpop resurgence that’s been quite hyped up this summer. That said, don’t let that fool you: The Rolling People are fully in charge of their future, not afraid to hop in and out of alt-rock and indie influences.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Edge of the Knife’, frontman Charlie McNichol explains: “This song is about living on a knife edge – the fine line between risk and reward, chaos and clarity. It’s about the moments where everything feels like it could fall apart, but somehow you push through. We wanted the sound to feel urgent, like it was chasing you.”
