The Margaret Hooligans Share Primordial Gem ‘Main Street Zulus’

Fierce, sharp and unapologetic: ‘Main Street Zulus’ hits the listener with primordial force and firm confidence, empowered by The Margaret Hooligans’ tribal and chaotic drum grooves and coarse, gritty distortions. Quite a unique offering from the American duo, which after having widely explored the post-punk and punk landscape is now happy to take on a more avant-garde livery, although always championing their victorious lo-fi character.

‘Main Street Zulus’ is the perfect evidence of that: from the unconventional arrangements to the quirky sonic choices, everything screams authenticity and peculiarity, especially when compared to their older records. Lyrically, the single continues the duo’s exploration of the modern online dating scene. As they explain: “This song imagines the inner monologue of a woman forced to endure the worst blind date ever.”
