We are quite impressed by the amount of support that The Lightning Kids have managed to garner in the last few years. Hailing from London, the talented dream-pop trio has embraced a highly alluring path that borders neighbouring genres such as synth-pop and synthwave, enticing a sizable crowd that loves to get lost in the group’s hypnotic textures and nocturnal, brooding atmospheres. Of course, everything is steeped in prominent 80s influences, showcasing The Lightning Kids’ retro-centric character.
‘Love On The Edge of Desire’ is the project’s latest album, out now. After having unveiled a series of singles throughout 2025, the British band takes the year to a close with a 12-track record that feels timeless, both futuristic and vintage. It’s quite incredible, really; episodes such as ‘Lost’ appeal to an overall sense of nostalgia while being wrapped into a shiny, luscious and forward-thinking sonic livery. It’s all dipped into a malleable pool of synth goodness, together with punchy drum machines that sound vibrant and wholesome.
Delving deeper into the album, The Lightning Kids explain: “The LP is our love letter to late-night driving in the dark to a cinematic soundtrack inspired by Americana-rock FM radio and 80s-inspired pop music. Finding yourself through music, teenage desire and heartbreak.” ‘Love On The Edge of Desire’ is out now via Aztec Records.
