Delving into sydneyunicorns’ origin story is rather inspiring and poignant. First debuting in 2021 after teaching herself music production during the pandemic, the talented Los Angeles-based songstress took an extensive hiatus in 2022, returning to music school thanks to a full scholarship at Stargate’s LAAMP program. Refining her creative and technical prowess, sydneyunicorns eventually jumped back into the pop scene last year with ‘Betrayal’, ahead of the recently released EP ‘Show & Tell’.
A pivotal and personal body of work, ‘Show & Tell’ is particularly meaningful, given the ever-changing personal circumstances in sydneyunicorns’ life. Having been diagnosed with ADHD, she was able to approach life with a new perspective, one that at last allowed her to piece together the puzzle of productivity and creativity she had always been looking for. The American creative has certainly grown a lot in the past few years, and her artistic glow is undeniable. In full control of her artistic aura, sydneyunicorns looks at the future with boldness and courage.
Featuring six boundary-pushing pieces, ‘Show & Tell’ is both haunting and vulnerable, initiating a series of introspective and honest lyrical reckoning, all framed into electro and alt-pop goodness produced by the artist herself. Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, sydneyunicorns explains: “It reclaims magic and power that was dimmed solely by being different. It is an invitation for listeners to join me in validating their feelings, refusing to shrink, and sharing their gifts with the world unapologetically.”
