Steven Browley Shares Playful Single ‘Lily of the Nile’

Steven Browley is rather honest and upfront about what ‘Lily of the Nile’ means to him. Simply, it’s “a simple song about nothing important. Relax and enjoy the music and your life. No deeper meaning”. It’s honestly quite a refreshing take; in a music landscape that strives for deep lyricism and constant introspection, Browley seeks to reclaim the attention back to the vibrancy of aural energy, allowing us all to lose ourselves in the record.

Imagine yourself on a bus journey, watching the world fly by its giant windows. You are listening to your favourite playlist and completely dissociating from the current moment. It’s the perfect scenario for enjoying ‘Lily of the Nile’: letting yourself be lulled – or be excited – by Steven’s musical prowess and its vintage-flavoured piece. Steeped in eclectic pop territories, the record also features a stunning guitar solo, giving us delicate 80s and 90s hints.

Speaking about the recording and production process behind the song, Browley explains: “Everything was recorded in a small home studio with simple equipment. Some synthesizers, drum machines and effects from the late 90s are my main gear.” It makes sense with what we declared above: ‘Lily of the Nile’ is perfectly balanced between vintage tones and contemporary character, making it potentially appealing to a wide audience.
