Solbore Shares Dreamy, Hypnotic Piece ‘To Be Free’

There’s a certain abstraction in ‘To Be Free’, a keen sense of wonder that transpires through its eclectic identity, an ethereal concoction of artsy rock allure and experimental electronica wrapped into limitless textures and improvisational ethos. Behind the record, we find Solbore, the project of Brighton-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and label/studio founder Vlad Matveikov, via Rainbow Bridge Records. Bonniesongs’ vocals are a joy to listen to, enriching the piece thanks to their angelic, hazy character, a feverish, dream-like flair that goes a long way into making ‘To Be Free’ such a hypnotic release.

Also featuring co-production from Neil Cosgrove and drums from Ravi Martin, the cut is the second in a series of singles leading to Solbore’s second album. Delving deeper into the record, Matveikov explains: “This was the first song idea that Neil and I properly tried to jam out, in our living room in Norfolk Street, Brighton. We sat with cables and equipment everywhere, went back and forth, and ended up with a spacey arrangement that needed something to tie it all together – that’s where we asked Ravi, my Slung bandmate, to step in with his incredible energy on the drums.”
