Skylarka Shares Charming Synthwave Record ‘Radish IV: Digital Frontier’

We are deeply impressed by the retro, warm sonic goodness Skylarka has to offer. Championing a faithful and eclectic passion for vintage synthetisers and old drum machines, the talented creative is able to compose music that feels hypnotising, highly cinematic and, first and foremost, timeless. ‘Radish IV: Digital Frontier’ is the perfect example of that: built on late 80s and early ‘90s synth patches, the record is seemingly aimed at celebrating the plethora of digital machines that saw the light during that period.

Keen music nerds (like us) will rejoice in the fuzzy and playful shower of FM (frequency modulation) sounds, even playing around with titles – ‘FM8’ and ‘Dexed’ are both plug-ins built on the legendary Yamaha DX7 model. Skylarka showcases not only musical talent but also historical knowledge. She’s the sonic hero that we need, but not the one we deserve.

For the purist, do not worry, analog references are fully maintained, with the likes of ‘Oberhausen’ and ‘Soviet PIF’, among others. Overall, the album is a fantastic synthwave record. Psst: Skylarka streams on Twitch!
