Life often appears messy and poignant when you are a teenager. Sure, looking back as an adult, we might smile at the carefree character of it all. Yet, to anyone going through such a crucial phase of the human experience, everyday living would often appear as a dramatic whirlwind of emotions. That’s perhaps what Siena Fantini alludes to in her latest EP, ‘what is it with me?’. A heartwarming collection of relatable, catchy pop pieces, the record features four elegant, theatrically-flavoured tracks, all carrying Fantini’s precious, luscious vocals.
Hailing from Los Angeles, Fantini holds a great deal of artistic prowess for a sixteen-year-old. In fact, her songwriting is much more mature than that, truly showcasing Siena’s ability to delve deeper into memories and emotions. From a sonic standpoint, we are in gentle pop territories, with acoustic guitars and cinematic textures developing a keen singer-songwriter-esque sound, providing hints of country and folk in the process.
Delving deeper into the EP, Fantini explains: “This collection of songs feels so significant to me because they feel like they mark one of the biggest chapters of my life. It’s so cool to reflect on the music now because I wrote these songs when I was 15. I feel like these songs really are a very raw and honest narrative for me at fifteen years old.”
